Bruhl & Cologne, Germany - August 23, 2011

Bruhl & Cologne Germany

The next morning we woke up early and got ready to go to Cologne so that we could walk around the city and climb the steps of the Huge Gothic Cathedral, visit the Cologne bridge and do a little shopping.

So we walked to the train station to catch a ride to Cologne.  When we got there we walked for a bit and decided to stop and get some ice cream.

When we finished our ice cream we walked through the streets browsing in the shops there were so many to choose from.  We had to stop in one of them and purchase coats because the weather there was a little colder than we had expected it to be.

Next we headed in the direction of the bridge we walked through a cobblestone street with lots of little pubs, so we decided to have a beer the kids got hot chocolate.  We sat outside and watched the people walking by and enjoyed our beautiful surroundings.  It didn't take us long to down the beer.  When we paid the bill our German friends informed us that it is not nice in Germany to leave to big of tip they find it offensive.

We strolled down to the river and to see the Cologne Bridge and get a closer look at the river.  Next we headed to the Cathedral and began our climb to the top.  We made our way up a long and winding staircase, a very tight space.  If you are clostraphobic you might not want to attempt this, but the view at the top is definetly worth the effort of the climb.

We headed back to Bruhl, for a cookout at our friends home.  The weather was a little cold,  but the cookout was very nice.  The food was amazing!  We had a surprise visit from my husbands brother.  The best part though was that we were with wonderful friends and family.
